Stud Poker Game is one of the most popular poker variant in home games together with Texas Hold Em. Two to eight players can play Stud Poker Game. In casino play, it is common to use a small ante and bring-in, while in home games, it is typical to use an ante only. Stud Poker Game - Rules
Stud Poker Game is played with two downcards and one upcard dealt before the first betting round, followed by three more upcards with a betting round after each card. After the last downcard is dealt, there is a final round of betting and then the best five-card poker hand wins the pot. In all fixed-limit Stud Poker Game games, the smaller bet is wagered on the first two betting rounds, and the larger bet is wagered after the betting rounds on the fifth, sixth, and seventh cards. In case of an open pair on the fourth card, any player has the option of making the smaller or larger bet.
Stud Poker Game - Hand Ranks
Stud Poker Game games are played using traditional poker rankings, with the player holding the highest ranking hand winning the pot or the pot is split between the highest ranking hand for high, and the best hand for low in 7 Card Stud High-Low Poker. So Stud Poker Game Hand Ranks goes from high to low as follows -
Royal Flush - is formed by an Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten in the same suit and In the event of a tie two or more Royal Flushes split the pot.
Straight Flush - is made up of five cards in sequence, of the same suit, but in the event of a tie highest rank at the top of the sequence wins.
Four of a Kind - is composed by four cards of the same rank, and one side card, when an event of a tie appears the highest four of a kind wins. In Stud Poker Game games where players have the same four of a kind, the highest fifth side card, called “kicker” wins.
Full House - appears when you have three cards of the same rank, and two cards of a different, matching rank. In the event of a tie the highest three matching cards wins the pot and in community card games where players have the same three matching cards, the highest value of the two matching cards wins.
Flush - is five cards of the same suit, but in the event of a tie the player holding the highest ranked card wins. If necessary, the second-highest, third-highest, fourth-highest, and fifth-highest community cards can be used to break the tie.
Straight - is composed by five cards in sequence and in the event of a tie the highest ranking card at the top of the sequence wins. You should always have in mind that the Ace may be used at the top or bottom of the sequence, and is the only card which can act in this manner.
Three of a kind - is formed by three cards of the same rank, and two unrelated side cards. In the event of a tie the highest ranking three of a kind wins and when players have the same three of a kind, the highest side card, and if necessary, the second-highest side card wins.
Two pair - appears when the player holds two cards of a matching rank, another two cards of a different matching rank, and one side card. In the event of a tie the highest pair wins and if players have the same highest pair, highest second pair wins, but if both players have identical pairs, highest side card wins.
One pair - two cards of a matching rank, and three unrelated side cards, so in the event of a tie the highest pair wins. If players have the same pair, the highest side card wins, and if necessary, the second-highest and third-highest side community card can be used to break the tie.
High card - is any hand that does not qualify under a category listed above and in the event of a tie the highest card wins, and if necessary, the second-highest, third-highest, fourth-highest and smallest card can be used to break the tie.
